What You Need To Know About Destin Beach Condos

by Chris Anderson, Ph.D.

Is there anything that could possibly be better than relaxing on the back deck of your Destin beach condo. I mean come on, we are the “Worlds Luckiest Fishing Village”, home to the Emerald Coast with it’s sugary white sand, and rapidly becoming an international destination. And to add icing to the cake, while you site on your back porch of your beach condo, you are now overlooking the waters of the “Emerald Coast” named because of their beautiful blue-green, crystal clear color.

If you’re just coming for a vacation, congratulations on having found the world’s best vacation spot. A Destin Beach condo is the perfect place to get away from it all. If it’s a vacation rental you’re looking for, than your primary concern is probably finding a condo which is fully furnished, well maintained and immaculately clean. These rentals can be found by inquiring with rental and property management agencies as well as direct from the owners. We have found that Destin Beach has a lot of great property management companies and if you do your homework, finding the perfect condo for your vacation should be a snap.

Do you want to instead buy a beachfront condo? This is a bit more of a commitment; but one you won’t regret for a moment. There area few things to think about before you buy though.

You should consider how many people the property can comfortably accommodate. You can look at VRBO.com and find properties which are capable of sleeping anywhere from two to seventeen people ? however, everyone defines comfortable a little differently. If you want a vacation rental near the beach, then the number of people the condo can sleep is likely to be your number one concern. Before you decide on a condo, be sure to talk to a couple of different property managers to find out what are the properties which are in the highest demand.

Next, you really need to get your arms around the other related costs such as condo association dues. The condo association dues in our area can be a couple hundred dollars per month to well over $1,000 per month. Frequently, the condo association dues are based on the square footage of the unit and typically cover hazard Insurance. If there is one mistake that I see constantly it is people grossly underestimating these costs.

After performing the necessary research on homes in the area, the next thing you’ll need to do is to locate a knowledgeable real estate agent who really knows the market. There are a lot of properties here which are great deals; finding them depends on having the right real estate agent on your side. There are many properties which only a savvy agent will be in the know about.

The last step is to test drive the condo by spending a few nights there or in an adjacent property. You will have a much easier time making your decision if you can experience for yourself what it’s like to stay there. If you are excited about the property after spending some time there and all of your research is done, then you know that this is a great piece of property for you.
