Property. Please, can somebody rewrite the guide book?

Real estate may be down but it’s most certainly not out. It’s taken some heavy body blows to be sure but it will get back off the canvass eventually, like it always does.

You can make money in any market if you realize that “buy low” and “sell high” works at all times and in all situations. It’s figuring out just what represents low and high that’s the tricky bit. The other essential ingredient is easy access to good finance in a nervous lending environment.

Real estate investors will often pay lots of attention to the price of a property and yet pay much less attention to the structure of their financing options. Easy access to funds is one aspect of this while the conditions of the loan are also critical.

The old investment advice that you profit when you make the deal not when you consummate it, is very apparent in a low balling real estate market.

If you are a relatively new or even a seasoned real estate investor then the current environment may be uncharted waters for you.

Such tumultuous times come around infrequently and so you need to be extra careful with your investing decisions because you won’t have a history on how to deal with this kind of market.

In a strange way though, the more uncertain that times are, then the more profit potential that inherently exists for you.

In any market you can still rely on the fundamentals of investing and you just need to place those in the context of the new market conditions.

No matter what the pundits predict about real estate and shares, I just hope that you can stay in the swim. It would be a real pity not to profit from this rather unusual alignment of market conditions.

Real estate investing in the new investing world order may require more of you than before. It may necessitate your acquiring new skills and abilities to offset the poor market that may prevail long term.

The panic and insecurity that the real estate markets are feeling in 2008 could be really good news for you, but only if you chose to see it that way.
